• Bracciano is located northwest of Rome, perched on a high hill which dominates the valley of the lake on which stands the imposing Odescalchi Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. The castle, austere and impregnable, the pivot on which has rotated the importance of Bracciano centuries. Its history dates back to the medieval period when the feudal lords of the area vying for power from the gates of Rome to the sea, to the north toward the high Tuscia Lazio and east towards Umbria. It belonged to the Di Vico, one of the most 'powerful families and bloody era. Bracciano is so famous for its castle, but also for its namesake lake where prohibited navigating motor boats, for its beaches populated by many Italian and foreign tourists. On its banks are located, hotels, camping and sailing clubs, as well as the lush vegetation with significant extensions of woods that cover the surrounding hills to the highest peak of Rocca Romana, over 600 meters above sea level. The castle still belongs to the Odescalchi family.
